Master Sander tests out the Educational Airtrack Set

Our new Educational Airtrack Set attracted a lot of attention at the NOT Fair. We had taken it to the booth of 12SPRINGS, Color Gymnastics and Alprovi. Teachers, students and children were able to test the Set extensively. They liked it! Also with master Sander. In this article he shares his highlights of the fair as well as his interview with Erik Scherder.

Education party at the fair

“Every day I was on the show floor shooting videos, giving presentations and engaging with teachers. I received super many enthusiastic responses to my moving learning videos for children. This gives enormous energy to make many more. Teachers indicated that the children have really started to see Master Sander as part of the class, which is of course great to hear.”

Meet, develop and grow

“The theme of the NOT was “For development and growth.” This theme was reflected throughout the fair. As a teacher, you had the opportunity to see all the materials for yourself and therefore get a good impression of how to use it in the classroom.

One of my favorite places at the fair was “The Classroom for the Future. Here you could get started with all the new possibilities for education such as robots, a studio, AR and VR as well as drones. But fortunately, we all know that the material itself doesn’t teach children anything. As an expert by experience, I was allowed to show how to properly use the materials and really get the children to learn. In which the role of the teacher is essential.”

The presentation focused on using audio in the classroom to practice listening comprehension and we also looked at learning programming with young children. A practical workshop that you can get started on right away.

As you know, I love moving learning and so I worked with teacher Sanne to try out all the moving learning tools. You can watch that in the video above. On Saturday my wife, daughter and mother-in-law came by and we did another round together. Lisa especially liked the Educational Airtrack Set.

Great speakers at the NOT

“What surprised me this year was the full houses at the various speakers. There was real effort put into making a good content program about education. And that is exactly what teachers need. You could also select the speakers by topics, such as: Citizenship, ownership, Edtech. The following speakers really appealed to me:

  • Highlight: Erik Scherder (no explanation needed right?)
  • Grej of the day – Explanation on how to use these cool micro lessons.
  • Eric van ‘t zelfde on Impossible is nothing
  • Jim Stolze on Edtech
  • Via high expectations toward greater equity of opportunity by Maxe de Rijk
  • 10 tips to get kids reading from the Reading Corner”

“Master Jesper also got to give a talk about social media in education and how he uses it to promote education. By chance we had to speak at the same time, but afterwards Jesper came by and bought my book Masterful Preschool Education. Very nice to talk about education with him.”

The entire interview with Erik Scherder

Together with teacher Sanne, I had the opportunity to interview Erik Scherder after the lecture. Professor Erik Scherder addresses the following questions:

  • Is technology making our brains dumber?
  • What do you hope people walk away with after seeing your presentation?
  • What is Erik Scherder’s vision of moving learning?
  • What are small tips that a teacher can apply in the classroom tomorrow to get started with moving learning?
  • Is it good for the brain when children stand in class?
  • More exercise or more music in the classroom?
  • Which is better: mind sport or a team sport?
  • Current: Lubach says: Now it’s over with phones in the classroom. What is your reaction to this?

You can watch the entire interview with Erik Scherder here:

“The NOT was a great success for me! I was able to talk to a huge number of teachers there and view a lot of cool materials again. Click here to watch some more videos I made with teacher Sanne at the NOT.”
